Aari embroidery is a traditional Indian hand-embroidery technique using a hooked needle (aari) to create fine, continuous chain stitches on fabric stretched over a frame. The aari needle is a long, fine hook that pulls thread through fabric to form chain stitches much faster and more precisely than standard needle embroidery. Aari embroidery originated in Gujarat and was traditionally used to embellish household items and leather goods before being adapted to textiles and fashion accessories.
