The Aari needle is a specialised hooked tool used above the fabric while thread is fed from below, forming fine chain stitches often embellished with beads, sequins, or metallic threads. Aari embroidery originated in Gujarat, evolving from leather decoration by cobblers to refined textile embellishment using frames and hooked needles.
