Aari embroidery is a hand-embroidery technique using a specialized hooked needle (called an aari) to create continuous chain stitches on fabric stretched over a frame. Aari embroidery originated in Gujarat, where it was initially used by cobblers to decorate leather goods before evolving into textile embellishment.
